eBay Shipping Time, Feedback and DSR’s

I would like to address these issue and help resolve some things. First, shipping time on eBay is broken down in two ways. 1. handling time, the time it takes the seller to mail the item and 2. estimated delivery time, the time it will take the postal system to deliver the item. Now when eBay says to rate the seller on shipping time, what they mean is the time it take the seller to mail the item, not the time it takes for the postal system to deliver the item. A seller should only be rated on the time it takes them to put the item in the mail, as they have no control over the postal system. You can find the estimated delivery time in every auction right under the buy it now or bid now button. As long as you receive the item by the dates listed there, I see no reason to leave the seller neutral or negative feedback or low DSR’s, as the terms of the sale where met. Now DSR’s, DSR’s or detailed seller ratings, rate the seller on their performance. Did the seller sent the item in the listed handling time, did you receive the item within the listed delivery time (keeping in mind that the postal system make have delayed the arrival, not the sellers fault) was the items as described and did they communicate with you ( this doesn’t mean babysit you) . If you received the item in the listed time, as described and they communicated with you there is no reason to leave low DSR’s, Remember DSR’s are 5 is high or good and 1 is low or bad, as I see it if all went as listed you should not leave anything less then a 5. Feedback, be honest but not super critical, if your envelope had a mark on it, is not a reasonĀ  to leave poor feedback. Remember that most of the sellers depend on this income as a big part of or all of their income. Being over critical will just hurt them and their family and reduce the items offered on eBay and raise the prices, sellers can be permanently removed from eBay because of your feedback and DSR’s. Bottom line is there is no reason to be over critical and just plain hurtful for no reason, if you have a problem contact the seller, give them time to reply and 99.9 % of time it will be worked out, don’t be rude or threatening, just state your problem. Keys to a successful eBay sale, read the auction and understand it, ask questions if you need to, check the estimated delivery time, and don’t buy it thinking you will get it quicker and then blame the seller when you don’t. If something happens contact the seller first, not in feedback, but in the eBay message system, give them time to reply ( eBay says 2-3 days) if they don’t reply, try once more, eBay if full of problems and they may have not receive the message, fairly work on the problem and then if all that fails you can file a claim. One last thing, why if you got a refund or a replacement would you leave a neutral or negative feedback, the problem was taken care of, be fair about it and leave positive feedback for the reason that it was resolved, don’t be one of the losers that leave bad feedback and it says ” got full refund, fixed problem” but it’s a neutral or negative. Think before you act.
